Questions About Pricing and Booking
Money first, because that is what most people want settled before anyone picks up a tool. The short version: the figure lands in writing up front, you pay on the spot, and urgent calls get fitted in where we can.
Call (07) 3524 7117How does pricing work before any work starts?
We price the job on site, hand you the figure in writing, and only pick up tools once you have approved it, so nothing gets added on later for the whole job.
Can I pay by card when the job is done?
Yes, card and EFTPOS on site is how we work, so once the job is finished payment is settled then and there, with nothing left to chase up with anyone later.
Can you come out urgently?
Ring us in the morning and we will aim to get a plumber out to your Deagon property before the day ends, since early calls leave room to slot urgent jobs between booked visits.
What changes the price of a plumbing job?
Access, materials and ground move it, because digging in the wet peaty soil along Cabbage Tree Creek takes far longer than the same trench on dry ground, and old pipework adds time.
Questions About Our Services
The work splits across four headings: emergency plumbing, general plumbing, drainage and hot water. These are the questions that come up most under each of them.
Call (07) 3524 7117What services do you cover?
From burst pipes and gas smells to leaking taps, toilet fixes, bathroom and kitchen jobs, leak detection, blocked drains, sewer and stormwater clearing, plus hot water repairs and replacements.
Who owns which pipe around my property?
Urban Utilities looks after the public sewer and water mains out in the road, while every pipe on your side of the boundary connection, including the branch drain, belongs to you.
Should I repair or replace a failing hot water system?
A failed valve or element is usually worth repairing, but a cylinder weeping from its base is at the end of its life, and we will quote both paths honestly before touching anything.
Are you licensed for gas work?
Yes, gasfitting sits inside our licensed plumbing and gasfitting work under QBCC No: 15024607, covering cooktop and heater connections, bayonet points, appliance checks and gas leak repairs in older homes.
Emergency Questions
Water where it should not be, or gas in the air, changes the order of everything. Each of these has a dedicated page behind it: burst pipes, an overflowing toilet or no hot water.
Call (07) 3524 7117What should I do first with a burst pipe?
Turn the water off at the meter first, then ring us, because shutting the supply down stops the damage climbing while one of our plumbers is travelling out to you.
What if I can smell gas?
Leave the property and call from outside, never flick switches or light flames, and never hunt for the leak yourself, because locating and fixing one is a licensed gasfitting job for our team.
Is a toilet overflowing an emergency?
A pan running over onto the floor is urgent, so stop the cistern, keep water clear of power points, and call so we can clear whatever is holding the line downstream of your place.
Does losing hot water count as urgent?
It can be, because a dead tank touches every tap in the house, and on a mild winter morning here a cold shower is enough to make it a priority call rather than a booked one.
Questions About Local Conditions
Flat ground beside a creek shapes what fails here and when. These are the suburb-specific questions, from the streets near the railway station and the temple on Depot Road out to the creek flats.
Call (07) 3524 7117Do floods affect plumbing in this suburb?
They do, because the 2010 flood brought rescues to some homes here, and the February 2022 flood water sat over a large share of the residential streets near the creek.
Do older houses here still have clay drains?
Many do, because the streets that filled following the First World War, earlier than PVC drain pipe was around, are the likeliest to keep earthenware drains whose joints shift in saturated ground.
Does the creek-side ground cause plumbing problems?
It does, because the gley soils near Cabbage Tree Creek remain sodden for months, so buried joints and metal fittings sit in aggressive ground and corrode more quickly than they would elsewhere.
How do I book a plumber in Deagon?
